Title | Letter from John Morris, Brentford Butts, to Charles Hatchett, Belle Vue House, Chelsea |
Creator | Morris; John (fl.1810s-1830s); British schoolmaster |
Recipient | Hatchett; Charles (1765-1847); British chemist |
Date | 6 August 1836 |
Description | He has been unable to write until the vacation, but now takes the opportunity to thank Hatchett for his publication, which he has read with delight and instruction. He discusses the use of the word 'penny' in the parable of the good Samaritan and its relationship with Roman coinage in the reign of Augustus. He points out a typographical error, in case Hatchett proceeds to the second edition. Mrs Morris has gone to town, but would join him in good wishes to Mr and Mrs Hatchett. |
