Title | Letter from S [Samuel] Solly, Bracken Cottage [?], near Lincoln, to Charles Hatchett, Bellvue House, Chelsea |
Creator | Solly; Samuel (1805-1871); British surgeon |
Recipient | Hatchett; Charles (1765-1847); British chemist |
Date | 9 September 1834 |
Description | His friend Metcalfe will shoot some game for Hatchett. He discusses various shooting arrangements, including his own license from a tenant to supply his table. However for baskets for others he relies on Metcalfe, who would have killed ten brace yesterday had it not been wet. He notes the availability of game saying that there must be an abundance on Hatchett's property, and future shooting plans. 'It is hardly worth while for Metcalfe to ride over for partridges as they are so abundant but the wood shooting next month will be worth looking after'. |
