Title | Letter from Joseph Larmor, St John's College, Cambridge, to Charles Vernon Boys, 27 The Grove, Boltons, London |
Creator | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish physicist |
Recipient | Boys; Sir Charles Vernon (1855-1944); British physicist and inventor |
Date | 30 September 1904 |
Description | The College has asked Larmor to find advice on the merits of Fellowship dissertations by F Horton [Frank Horton, later FRS (1878-1957)]. There is no doubt about his experimental skill, but he presents no theoretical evidence. Larmor asks if this is sufficient for a Fellowship of six years and notes that Horton has been in contact with Boys on the subject of experiments with quartz fibres. |
