| Description | Braun has learned that Boys has published his researches on the gravitational constant and mean density of the Earth. Braun is occupied in the same researches and his work is advancing slowly, as his health is weak. He believes that these will reach a conclusion within one year. He hopes that Boys might be able to send a pamphlet on his experiences and calculations. Braun wishes to know how exact the results obtained by Boys have been. Discusses sources of error.
He later notes that the first part of his letter, written five weeks ago, has been returned to him owing to an insufficient address. He has purchased the three letters that Boys contributed to 'Nature'. Sympathises with the remarks Boys has made on how fatiguing such observations were - Braun has had no help with his apparatus and is now in a hydrotheraeutic establishment at St Radegund in Styria, Austria. |
