| Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to William Turner Thiselton Dyer, Fellow of the Royal Society |
| Date | 31 January 1896 |
| Description | 'Dear Sir, The term "House & Soiree Committee" seems to have been initiated in 1876, but appears to have been done quite informally. I find that warming, cleaning, painting and decorating are matters which have been discussed by the Committe and recommendations thereupon sent to the Council. I will, however, bring the matter to the notice of the Officers and they will, perhaps, make some formal motion on the subject. Yours truly, H Rix Asst. Sec. R.S. [Assistant Secretary, Royal Society]'. |
