Title | Copy letter from Arthur William Rucker, to Professor Silvanus Phillips Thompson, [Fellow of the Royal Society] |
Date | 6 October 1897 |
Description | A letter was received at the Society last month from Colombo, President of the Italian Electrotechnical Association stating that he has taken the liberty of putting the name of the Society in the Committee for erecting a monument to Galileo Ferraris. A paper, of which Rucker encloses a copy [not attached], accompanied Colombo's letter. On this Thompson's name appears and Rucker writes to ask what Thompson knows of the circumstances. As far as Rucker knows no application has been made to the Society for the use of its name, and though a monument to Ferraris might well be supported, it does appear to be rather previous.
The 'Parisian' brought 50 of them safely to Liverpool on Monday. |
