Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor Thomas George Bonney, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 22 October 1897 |
Description | Encloses telegrams received from Sydney regarding the coral boring [not enclosed]. The Treasurer [John Evans] and Professor [Arthur William] Rucker both think that in Dr [Michael] Foster's absence these should be shown to Bonney as chairman of the Coral Committee.
Asks Bonney's opinion on communicating the content of the telegrams to 'The Times' or other papers. The substance of the earlier message was communicated to 'The Times' in a telegram from Melbourne and appeared in the paper the day before the Sydney telegram reached the Royal Society's office. Explains why Professor Anderson Stuart was considerably put out by this. |
