| Description | Brings to the Secretary's notice the case of Sargent Dewberry of the Royal Army Medical Corps who was employed on the laboratory work of the Malta Fever Commission in Malta from 24 October 1904 until 11 May 1905, when he contracted the fever himself. Dewberry has been invalided and has been for some months at Netley Hospital. Had Dewberry remained in the immediate service of the War Office he would have received his ordinary pay plus six pence a day extra as a laboratory assistant. Dewberry's work in the Malta laboratory was not considered to be immediately for the War Office and the extra pay has not been allowed him. Queries if the Colonial Office cold remunerate Dewberry from the funds provided for the expenses of the Malta Fever Commission. They think the extra duty pay amounts to about £10. |
