Description | 'Dear Colonel Prain, In a report made by Sir William Crookes to the Committee which is now enquiring into the occurrence of Cataract among Glass workers, special reference was made to a green glass which is used in the palm houses at Kew and which is especially effective in cutting off the red solar rays. The Committee instructed me to ask for any information you can give them as to the name of the manufacturers from whom this glass was obtained and whether it is still being made. I shall be much obliged by any information you can give me with a view to [enquiring] as to the composition of the glass.' |
