Title | Copy letter from Archibald Geikie to the Vice-Chancellor, Brasenose College, Oxford |
Date | 25 March 1912 |
Description | On the behalf of the Royal Society Geikie thanks the Vice-Chancellor for the invitation from the University of Oxford that the Society should arrange to visit Oxford in connection with its Anniversary Celebrations in July. The Society gladly accepts the invitation. The function in London begin on Monday 15th July and close Thursday 18th July. There remains only two available days , the 19th and 20th July. The University of Cambridge is also desirous that the Royal Society visit Cambridge and Bradford writes about the options. Considering the early connection of Wadham College with the Royal Society's beginnings, Geikie is of the opinion that Oxford has peculiar claims upon the Royal Society and thinks the visit to Oxford should be on July 19th. Bradford leaves it to the respective authorities of the two Universities to arrange matters. |
