| Description | Sprengel's paper 'on the explosion of wet guncotton through cumulative detonation' has been before the Council of the Royal Society and they have agreed to the following four resolutions.
Firstly that Sprengel be invited to communicate to Council any passage or passages in Sir F Abel's papers as published by the Royal Society in which he considers injustice is done to him. Secondly that a copy of any statement by Sprengel be sent to Sir Abel with an invitation to him to submit his responding remarks to the Council. Thirdly that after receiving Abel's remarks or in their absence after allowing a reasonable amount of time to pass, the Council take into consideration the advisability of publishing Sprengel's statement with or without comments made upon it by Abel, in the 'Proceedings of the Royal Society'. Finally, in case the Council should decide to adopt this mode of dealing with the matter both Sprengel and Abel will be informed of the proposed course of procedure.
