Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Lord Rayleigh [John William Strutt] |
Date | 19 May 1893 |
Description | Professor [James] Dewar called at the Society this afternoon to ask why his Government Grant application had been declined. Upon Rix informing him that he was not present at the discussion of the Boards Dewar demanded to see the minute books. Rix reminded Dewar that this was not a usual demand.
Dewar quoted various statutes and claimed a consitutional right to see the minute books. Rix allowed Dewar to read the minutes of Board B and those of the General[?] Committee. Dewar took note of the content and Rix thinks he means to make a disturbance. |
