Title | Print, experimental equipment by Shelford Bidwell |
Date | 1886 |
Description | A woodcut print of the equipment used by Bidwell in his investigations into the effect of tension upon magnetic changes of length in wires of iron, nickel, and cobalt. The instrument is described in the accompanying paper and consists of a copper coil connected to a hook inside a wooden frame. This print was first published alongside Bidwell's earlier paper, 'On the changes produced by magnetisation in the length of iron wires under tension' [see PP/8/17].
Subject: Physics / Magnetism / Metallurgy
This print was published in volume 47 of the Proceedings of the Royal Society alongside the paper 'On the effect of tension upon magnetic changes of length in wires of iron, nickel, and cobalt'. |
