| Title | Referee's report by Arthur Schuster, on a paper 'A comparative study of the spectra, densities and melting points of some groups of elements and of the relation of properties to atomic mass' by Hugh Ramage |
| Date | November 1901 |
| Description | Sectional Committee: Physics and Chemistry
The paper contains matters of interest and deals with a promising subject but he cannot say that it marks in any way a distinct step in the advancement of natural knowledge. It deals in a somewhat unconnected way with several subjects and is too much of the nature of an essay or dissertation written for the purposes of obtaining a degree or fellowship. Should the Committee decide to print the paper the author's attention should be drawn to a paper by Humphreys on pressure shifts 'Astrological Journal', Volume IV, page 249. This paper contains the measurement of the shift of a strontium line which the author on page nine states has not been measured.
