Title | Referee's report by Hugh Frank Newall, on a paper 'On the Ultra violet spectrum of Gadolinium' by William Crookes |
Date | 29 December 1904 |
Description | Sectional Committee: Physics and Chemistry
Recommended for publication in Proceedings. He does not think it would be possible to reproduce the illustration adequately in Proceedings and so does not recommend that course. It is to be hoped the author may be induced to prepare for publication some of the plates of spectra of the rarer metals as these would be of great value to spectroscopists. Newall hopes some means may be forthcoming for the publication of something of the nature of an atlas, the form of it would require a great deal of consideration. Suggests that in the fourth paragraph the reference made to 'Rowland's latest measurements' refers to the preliminary table of solar spectrum wavelengths, 'Astrophysical Journal', volumes one to five. If so a definite reference should be provided. Annotated in another hand that this point should be inserted into the proof and sent to the author for confirmation.
