Description | ?Gold has an unusual request; he will give a lecture on the 'Social Value of Science' at the beginning of April, and would very much like to be able to discuss the different degree of popular appreciation for scientists in different countries and at different times. He knows that France has led the world in understanding the value of science, and even the general public is educated to appreciate the work of the great scientists of the past. What he would like now is a clear demonstration of this. The naming of streets, squares, public places and buildings is best for this, and he believes that in Paris there are many such places. Could Dollfus supply him with such a list? Just the first twenty or so that come to mind would do for his purpose.
Hopes he does not mind being troubled in this way. |
