The structure of the recently discovered rings of Uranus is accounted for by a series of orbital resonances with the satellites Ariel, Titania and Oberon, The observations and their interpretation will considerbly improve our knowledge of the mass of the planet and its dynamical oblateness and could influence our ideas on the formation of planets and satellites. |
