The letters and faxes relate to various matters such as: his views on a letter containing 34 signatures, which was sent to the Director of the US Geological Survey, asking him to arrange for the withdrawal of all copies of ‘The future of energy gases - US Professional Paper 1570’ that contained his article, 'The origin of methane in the crust of the earth'. The letter alleged that Gold had swindled the Swedes out of millions of dollars via a project to drill for gas and oil in the Siljan Ring, Sweden, which he was involved in; his criticisms of research being controlled by the ‘peer review system’ (297); offer by a man in Germany to make Gold heir to his testament (271, 296); submitting an article on the origin of petroleum to AAPG Explorer (293); plate tectonics (288); NASA press release, 19 Dec 1995, on the effects of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) on the ozone layer, which he disagreed with (275, 287).
