Title | Letter from Lord Kelvin [William Thomson], Netherhall, Largs, Ayrshire, to [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, 66 Victoria Street, London, S. W. |
Creator | Thomson; William (1824-1907); Baron Kelvin of Largs; British physicist |
Date | 13 April 1900 |
Description | Informs he has received a copy of the petition of the Manchester Corporation against the Lancashire Electrical Power Bill, which contains provision for action in Manchester which he deems to be very objectionable. For this reason he cannot give evidence in favour of the Bill. Sees nothing objectionable in the Tyneside Bill, approving all its provisions and is glad to give evidence in support of it. Refers to enclosed items (enclosures not present), updating that he will post a short statement of proposed evidence before he leaves Netherall for London. |
