TitleLetter from [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, to Clarence D. Smith [Esquire], Messrs. [Thomas & William] Smith, Ltd., Guildhall, Newcastle-on-Tyne
CreatorSwinton; Alan Archibald Campbell (1863-1930); British electrical engineer
Date10 February 1927
DescriptionInforms he has somewhat recovered from his prolonged spell of gastritis and able to respond to Smith's letter. Following his consideration on the matter, he does not think that the increease in the use of Wireless Telegraphy can have any appreciable effect upon the corrosion of ships plates. States that this applies not only to ships which have Wireless Telegraphy transmitting and receiving sets installed upon them, but to others which have no such installation. Thinks that the points Smith should look to as the cause of his troubles are the steel from which his plates are formed and the quality of the points or other preservatives employed. Suggests asking others if they have had the same experience.
