Title | Letter from [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, to E. Reeves [Esquire] |
Creator | Swinton; Alan Archibald Campbell (1863-1930); British electrical engineer |
Date | 21 March 1928 |
Description | Returns the documents sent to him with the previous letter, informing he has looked through them and found them interesting. As far as he can gather, what Cromptons showed at the Paris Exhibition in '81 was probably only some of his arc lamps, and that he did not start to make Crompton-Burgin dynamos until after that date, when he showed them at the Crystal Palace Exhibition in '82. Adds that Cromptons most important early works were the lighting of the Opera House at Vienna, the lighting of the Law Courts in London, and the starting of the Kensington & Knightsbridge Electrical Company. Wishes to know how long he is expected to speak as the subject is on that can be dealt with at any desired length. |
