Title | Letter from [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, to Alexander Russell [Esquire], F. R. S. |
Creator | Swinton; Alan Archibald Campbell (1863-1930); British electrical engineer |
Date | 9 July 1928 |
Description | Baird, whom he has only met once. Comments that there is documentary evidence that he and his television invention are being used by some of his associates to fleece the British public on the Stock Exchange, and this is being done to the tune of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of pounds. Emphasises the seriousness of the matter, and as Baird is a director of both of his companies, what is being done must be done with his knowledge. For this reason, he believed that whilst Baird remains in this position, it is inadvisable that the Institution should give him or any of his associates any encouragement or opportunity of advertising his business. |
