Title | Letter from [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, to Mr. R. H. Froude, Bernstein, Newton Abbott, Devon |
Creator | Swinton; Alan Archibald Campbell (1863-1930); British electrical engineer |
Date | 3 February 1928 |
Description | Obliged for and amused by Froude's card about water divining. Comments that most of those who believe in it have very extraordinary views on physics, and that even an authoritative opinion by the National Physical Laboratory, after proper tests, to the effect that the whole thing is a myth, would not carry conviction with a large number of those who are credulous enough to believe in it. Enquires if Froude is the Mr. Froude who used to be a partner in the Heenan & Froude who made the spherical engine, and if so, he might remember that 40 years ago he came to his works to test spherical engines for Messrs Armstrong. Mentions he met Mr. Heenan on one occasion since then. |
