Description | Referring to a paragraph pertaining to the invention of the electric lamp, comments the Editor was good enough to write about his suggestion in a former issue, and since he made the suggestion, finds through the courtesy of Mr Lane Fox Pitt, who has lent him a copy of his patent of 1878, that he was not only the first patentee of electric distribution at constant potential, with everything in parallel, but he was also, the first to patent what is now known as the gas-filled metal-filament lamp, predating Swan and Edison. Discusses the use of filaments of tungsten. |
