Title | Letter from [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, to Mr. Rowell |
Creator | Swinton; Alan Archibald Campbell (1863-1930); British electrical engineer |
Date | 15 May 1929 |
Description | Seems that owing to his letter to The Electrician not being received until after the last meeting of the Council, the latter, through the President and Colonel Purves, have been instructed to write to the American National Committee of the International Illumination Commission upon insufficient information. This is still insufficient as owing to a further letter he wrote to The Electrician on 13 May, not yet published, enclosing a copy, from which it is evident that he has discovered that Mr. Lane Fox Pitt was not only the first patentee for electrical distribution at constant parallel but was also the inventor of the first gas-filled metal-filament lamp, predating Edison and Swan [enclosure present]. |
