Title | Letter from [George Gascoigne] Blake, 8 & 10 Onslow Road, Richmond, Surrey, to Mr [Alan Archibald] Campbell Swinton, F. R. S., M. I. E. E, 66 Victoria Street, S. W. 1. |
Creator | Blake; George Gascoigne (1885 - 1961); physicist and chemist |
Date | 19 April 1926 |
Description | Thanking Swinton for writing to him and pointing out a letter he wrote to The Times, remarking that persecuted radiographers throughout the country, including himself, ought to be grateful for Swinton taking up the cudgels on their behalf. Asks Swinton to consider how the British Institute of Radiology treats lay radiographers, which he believes is quite contrary to their Articles of Association. Encloses a chronological chain of his correspondence with them which he does not require Swinton to treat as private [enclosures present]. Dislikes publicity but fears it is necessary as he believes their action of blackballing him after sending him to printed invitations to join is an insult, not only to himself but to the other Institutions he is a member of. Wonders if the Institute of Electrical Engineers could be persuaded to take the matter up again.
Enclosed are 8 letters, some being photographic copies of typewritten letters, between George Gascoine Blake and the British Institute of Radiology, dating between 23 March 1925 and 16 April 1926. Named correspondents include John Muir, Secretary of the British Institute of Radiology, Percy Fitzpatrick Rowell, Secretary of the Institute of Electrical Engineers, and the chief clerk of the Institute of Electrical Engineers. The method of arrangement by Swinton's office has gruped together with these letters to Swinton from The Institution of Electrical Engineers bearing reference numbers used by Swinton's office, which can be traced in the letter register books under numbers 82367 and 82709. |
