Encloses a copy of a letter he wrote to Mr Charles [Edwin] Benham, of Colchester, together with a copy of his reply, regarding materials for a portrait of [William] Gilbert.
Also included are three internal Institution of Electrical Engineers documents:
1) 'Oil paintings for the Lecture Theatre. Names for further consideration by the General Purposes Committee'
2) 'Oil paintings for the Lecture Theatre. Names suggested by Mr. Evershed for consideration by the General Purpose Committee. The Line of Electrical Development'
3) 'Oil paintings for the Lecture Theatre', in tablar format comprising key headings of subject; donor; offer received; acknowledged by President officially; and details as to artist arranged with donor.
