Title | Letter from [Percy Fitzpatrick] Rowell, Secretary, The Institution of Electrical Engineers, Savoy Place, Victoria Embankment, London, W. C. 2., to [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, F. R. S., 40 Chester Square, S. W. 1. |
Creator | Rowell; Percy Fitzpatrick (1874-1940); Secretary of the Institution of Electrical Engineers |
Date | 10 December 1928 |
Description | Responding to a letter of 10 December, referring to Swinton's enclosure of a letter to the President in regard to the [John] Hopkinson painting. Regretfully informs Swinton that he has been mislead by his informant as no offer has been considered from anyone else, and it is still hoped that Sir Charles Parsons will decide to present a portrait of [John] Hopkinson. Adds that Swan is also on the list of portraits to be obtained and if Sir Charles would prefer to give that portrait, the Council is likely to accept it. Explains that confusion arose as Sir Tom Callender was mentioned as a possible donor of one of the other paintings desired by Council. |
