Description | Scudamore describes experiments carried out to determine the evolution of heat during blood coagulation. He determines that the greatest evolution of heat occurs when the fibrin in the blood first begins to clot.
A graphite inscription top left of first page reads 'Not in Proc [Proceedings]' and an ink inscription top right reads '(not to be printed)'. Annotations and deletions appear throughout in graphite.

Communicated by the President [Sir Humphry Davy]. Read to the Royal Society on 27 February 1823.
Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper, Scudamore published this paper as part of a larger work in 1824: Scudamore, Charles. 'An essay on the blood, comprehending the chief circumstances which influence its coagulation...' Mallet, 1824. |
