Title | Unpublished paper, 'An experimental investigation of the phenomena of endosmose and exosmose' by William Ritchie |
Date | [1831] |
Description | Ritchie describes his experiments inspired by [Henri] Dutrochet's principles of endosmose and exosmose, relating to the passing of water and alcohol through an animal membrane, in this case a bladder. Ritchie named the apparatus he created for use in his experiments an 'endosmometer' and makes various hygrometric experiments using it.
