Title | Unpublished paper, 'Account of a heifer that was covered with horny excrescences' by John Mason Good |
Date | [early 19th century] |
Description | Good describes a case of a crossbreed heifer bred in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire [England] by a Mr Sharp. The heifer's head and neck all the way to the shoulders were covered with horns and horny excrescences of all sizes that appeared six months after the heifer gave birth. Good provides a description of the texture and composition of the horns, and compares them to other published descriptions of 'horny excrescences' appearing in both humans and animals. Minor pencil corrections appear throughout. Includes a coloured illustration of the heifer.
