Title | Unpublished manuscript, 'The oxidation of carbon at ordinary temperature by means of atmospheric oxygen with the production of electrical energy' by Willard [Erastus] Case |
Creator | Case; Willard Erastus (1857-1918); American chemist |
Date | 1899 |
Description | Case undertakes an experimental investigation with the aim of establishing that carbon reduces ferric chloride solution to ferrous with the production of carbon dioxide; that ferrous chloride solution can be re-oxidised to ferric by atmospheric oxygen; and that platinum and carbon, when opposed to each other in ferric chloride solution, produce electrical energy with the oxidation of carbon to carbon dioxide.
Annotations in ink throughout. Includes eight photographs.
