The Chairman has submitted a recommendation, based on the opinions of three members of this Board, that a grant of £1,100 be made to Dr Lindsay and that the cost of the new dome might properly be borne by the Trustees of Armagh Observtory.
The Post-war Needs in Astronomy Committee, which was consultedby Sir Alfred Egerton, expressed the view that the abovematter was part of the wider issue of modernising the equipment of other United kingdom observatories which is a widespread need.
