7. Loyal address To consider a draft loyal address to His Majesty the King on the occasion of the marriage of Her Royal Highness Princess Elizabeth, and to appoint a delegation to present the Address on the behalf of the Socirety.
The following draft by the Officers has been submitted to the Home Office;
" To the King's Most Excellent Majesty
May it please your Majesty We, your loyal and dutiful subjects, the President, Council and Fellows of the Royal Socity of London, humbly beg leave to offer yuor Majesty, the Patron of our Society, our respectful and most sincere congratulations upon the approaching marriage of yYour Majesty's Most Dearly Beloved Daughter Her Royal Highness Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary to Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten, R.N. The Royal Society of London ever since it received its first Charter from His Majesty King Charles the Second has not only enjoyed the continuted patronage of the Throne but has been specially favoured in that many membres of The Royal House have become Fellows of the Society. it is with particular pride that, in offering our respectful and sincere congrtulations on this most ausicious occasion, we recall that Her Royal Highness was elected a Fellow of the Society and, having graciously signified her desire to visit our Roomsat Burlington House, she was duly admitted to the Fellowship on the third of July this year.
And we shall ever pray that your Majesty,with her Most Gracious Majesty the Queesn,may long live to witness the married happiness and prosperityof your Most Dearly Beloved Daughter and to continue to reign over your devoted and loyal subjects.
