Notes the state of the vessel 'Discovery' and describes the 'Morning', a relief vessel purchased and commencng her voyage to New Zealand. Scott will be in command of both ships and he is commended to return to Lyttleton in the spring of 1903. Gives the opinion that a third season may not be possible. Expresses confidence in Scott's command of the Expedition.

Inscribed [p.1] 'Draft of a letter to Captain Scott, settled at a joint meeting of the Offices of the Royal and Royal Geographical Society, and submitted by the President for the approval of the Council. It is proposed that the letter is signed by the two Presidents'. |
