| Description | Understands that Sir Archibald Geikie, Secretary of the Royal Society, desires an apology from Walker, and would be glad if Sherrington would transmit this. Recounts the actions taken surrounding the illustrations for Walker's paper, and informs Sherrington that Walker had been able to get the blocks for a reprint made for £6 14s 6d (much less than the Royal Society's estimate of £18). Speaks of the Assistant Secretary's 'unfortunate attitude' when he refused to see Walker and [J. E. S.] Moore when they visited the Royal Society on 4 April. Complains that apparently all official channels have been closed between the Society and Walker, and that he is anxious about the publication of his paper. Explains that the letter to [John Bretland] Farmer was a letter to an intimate friend, and that he was annoyed when he wrote it. Is not inclined to offer any further explanation, seeing as he feels that he has been treated in an 'unseemly' way. |
