Description | Hopes that they will consider the enclosed application from Sir David Gill, Director of the Observatory of the Cape of Good Hope, for the loan of a 2.5 metre standard and accompanying apparatus, for measuring the Zambesi-Tanganyika [geodetic] arc of the 30th meridian. States that the work will be lead by Dr Rubin, a previous member of the Russio-Swedish geodetic expeditions in 1899 and 1901, and leader of the 1902 expedition. Notes that the work is being undertaken under the auspices of the International Association of Academies, and that the Imperial Academy of Sciences of St Petersberg is a member. Hopes that they can send the apparatus to London. |
