| Title | Statement regarding the Astrographic Charts of the Perth Observatory, by Herbert Hall Turner |
| Date | 21 February 1903 |
| Description | Notes the'imperial obligation' to come in aid of the Australian Government. Notes that the Oxford Observatory [where Turner works] has received £1000 from the Government Grant Fund in aid of the work on the [International] Astrographic Chart, but that the Australian Observatories need funds for it too. Notes that Perth Observatory came to the scheme under pressure to fill the place of a defaulter [an observatory that backed out of the work]. Notes that all of the French observatories working on the scheme are given £1500 at least each for the work from the French Government. Discusses how the measurement of the [astronomical] plates from Perth could be done cheaply in England, and shows the economy of the matter. Discusses probable costs. |
