Description	Thanks Robert Harrison for his kindness and hospitality when [Peter] Jeffrey Mackie called in. Notes that he also called in at the Colonial Office, where he spoke to Mr Bottomley, head of the Uganda Department. Notes that they will give Mr [John] Roscoe [head of the expedition to Uganda] every facility, but have barred him from visiting certain parts of the country 'on aacount of the ferocity and unsettled state of the natives'. Notes that he [Mackie] dined with Roscoe and discussed this. Thinks that neither Lord Milner or Mr [Walter Hume] Long of the Colonial Office should be asked to be on the expedition Committee, as it would tie their hands somewhat. Also thinks that the Committee is made up of some very distinguished scientists 'who are above politicians and government officials'.
