Description | On the claim of Messrs. A.T. [Albert Theodore?] King, F.A. Mason and Samuel Barnett Schryver, for a reward in developing a new manufacturing process for the production of b-Eucaine. Noting the patents 101,738 and 101,428: the claims of the first are not original, being covered by a passage in Ullman's encyclopaedia of technical chemistry from 1914. The second patent contains an acetal process not previously described in this context, but 'a method which would naturally be tried by any trained chemist'. He does not think that a large award is called for. |
