| Description | Slare describes an experiment in which copper filings are mixed with sal ammoniac to produce first a clear liquid, and then a deep blue liquid when air is removed and then reintroduced to the mixture. Slare compares this colour change to the colour change that occurs when blood is exposed to air from a vein or when it undergoes respiration through the lungs.
