Minute of the Council of 20 November 1823 appointing the Committee was read.

' Resolved that Mr Francis Chantrey be added to the Committee.

It was determined that apparatus should be provided to ascertain the Specific gravity, the strength, the absorbent power in respect to water and the action of acids upon the diffferent specimens of granite submitted to the Committee.

Ordered that John Rennie Esq be requested to attend the next Meeting of the Committee.

Adjourned to Monday next at two o'clock. '
