TitleMinutes of a meeting of the Committee for the improvement of Glass for Optical purposes
Date21 May 1827
Description ' Present at the meeting: Mr Davies Gilbert; Mr Herschel and Mr Children on the behalf of the Committee for the improvements of Glass for optical purposes, with the Managers of the Royal Institution by appointment, in Albemarle Street, in cnsequence of the application directed to be made to them at the last meeting of this Committee, respecting the erection of Furnaces in their premises for prosecuting the experiments for improvement of Glass.

Examining the premises, it appeared such a convenient place for the purpose may be found adjoining the Battery Room, on what the Managers are willing to allow the Committee to erect a small room and such furnaces as they may find necessary, and also to use a portion of the Battery Room adjacent to, and communicating with, the proposed Furnace Room for the purpose of mixing the ingredients, and such other manifestations as the experiments may require.
