' Minutes of the last meeting including the report of the Subcommittee of the 6 July last were read.

The following report presented of the Subcommitte was read, viz. Resolved that this report be received and approved and that the thanks of the Committee be given to the Subcommittee for the same.

Resolved that the Subcommittee be requested to pursue the researches they have undertaken.

Resolved that Captain Kater be requested to make inquiries respecting the terms on which a knowledge can be obtained of the recent method of making glass for optical purposes. '
