Captains Parry and Foster and Mr Horsburgh Hydrographer to the East Inda Company were presetn by invitation

A Report was agreed and directed to be prepared for the meeting of the Council on Thursday 31 January 1828. Contents of report listed, including the ntroduction congratulating the ' liberal and enlightened views which have actuated His Royal Highness the Lord High Admiral in directing the outfitting of an enterprise destined solely and simply for the promoting of the scientific research and the extension of the bounds of human knowledge '. Lists the objects of scientific enquiry to be pursued, including the determining of the true figure of the earth and the law of variation of gravity in different points of its surface and therefore the visiting of a great number of stations in all parts of the globe with their pendulum experiments.
