Present: President in the chair; Mr Combe; Mr Herschel; Mr Hatchett; Dr Marcel; Dr Wollaston; Dr Young

' Resolved that Sir Robert Seppings be requested to order the following Experiments to be made: -
1. Two Six Gallon Casks to be provided each to contain a Gallon of Sea Water, in one of these a pound of sawdust alone to be it, in the other a pound of the same sawdust, previously stirred up with half a pound of coal tar.
Both Barrels to be loosely corked and sent for a few weekends into the Channel in the hold of a Ship.
2. A third Barrel to be provided, to contain a pound of Coal Tar alone.
3. A Fourth Barrel also to be provided to contain saw dust mixed with Sea Water alone.

Another set of Experiments to be made at Woolwich in the Smith's Shop, and the agitation produced by a Steam Engine and the temperatures noted.
That six phials of Coal Tar be provided for the Members of the Committee and also six jars of the Composition.
That specimens of the Copper, Iron and Wood be produced from the Owen Glendower.
That one phial of Coal Tar, and one jar also of the Composition be sent to the Royal Institution, directed to Mr Hatchett. '
