Read;
Letter and Report on the Copper Sheathing of Ships of 7 May 1823 from H Legge, R Middleton and J Brown of the Navy Office

' Resolved that a Letter be written to the Navy Board stating that some Members of the Committee have taken portions of the Copper Specimens for examination, but the Committee are of the opinion that the specimens sent for their inspecition are not such as will enable them to form a decision upon the causes of the relative durability of different samples; that it is requisite they should be informed of the part of the bottom of the vessel from which the copper has been taken, and that other samples with more minute details respecting them should be forwarded to the Committee.
