1. Membership and Terms of REference
The Chairman reported that the British National Committee for Geology, at a meeting on 16 October 1964, made the following recommendation which was approved by Council of the Royal Society on 12 November 1964 (Minute 29 (iii): 'that a subcommittee be appointed, with power to do-opt, to organize the VII INternational Sedimentological Congress to beheld in Reading and Edinburgh in 1967, the subcommittee to consist of Professor P Allen and Dr A Lees (Reading), Dr E K Walton and Mr P McL D Duff (Edinburgh), Professor J E Heminway (Newcastle upon Tyne), Dr T R Owen (Swansea), Dr A J SMith (University College London), Mr A M Clarke (National Coal Board), with Professor Allen as Chairman; and that Professor Allen be invited to attend meetings of the Natinal Committee when business was appropriate.'

The terms of refenence of the subcommitte were agreed as follows:
1. To organize the VII Internatinal Congress of Sedimentology in Reading and Edinburgh n 1967

2. To ensure that the Congress was financially solvent.

3. To report to the British NAtional Committee for Geology from time to time, otherwise to be free to act independently.

4. To keep the President of the Internationl Association of Sedimentology informed of arrangements for the Congress.

It was agreed to hold the next meeting of the subcommittee on Wednesday, 28 April 1965, at 10.30 am.
