SUMMARY OF RECOMMENDATIONS TO COUNCIL
Minute 3: That since the International Union of Quaternary REsearch was now affiliated to the IUGS, the Royal Society should adhere to INQUA, and that in view of the hactive part played by the IK in Pleistocene geology adherence shoudl be in the highest category, e.e. Grade V at 10 units per annum )one unit being equal to 100 dollars)amounting to 1000 dollars beginning with 1968.

Minute 10: To draw Council's attention to the proposed International Geological Correlation Programme wponsored by the International Union of Geolog8ical Sciences, noting the following points (i) The British National Committee for Geology is strongly in favour of supporting the programme and hopes that support will be forthcoming from the UK in due course, (ii) it was evident that the details of so large a scheme will need to be examined and suggests that the Geological Society which already has several committees working on the different aspects of the programme be invited to advise the National Committee on the main programme as it affects the UK, (iii) there is close lilaison between the IUGS and UNESCO and it seems likely that substantial financial support will be available from UNESCO.

Minute 13: That (a) Professor J H Taylor be appointed UK delegate to the Council of IUGS at its meetings during the 23rd International Geological Congress to be held in Prague from 19-28 August 1968, (b) £Dr K C Dunham be appointed the Royal Society's delegate to the Congress General Assembly and leader of the UK delegation ; and (c) £2,000 be authorized for travel grants for the UK participants to attend the Congress.
