The minutes of the first meeting held on 23 July 1959 were confirmed.

11. Formation of an International Union of Geology
Resolved - that it be a recommendation to Council that a proposal for the formation in 1960 of an International Union of Geology be submitted to the Organizing Committee of the XXI International Geological Congress after consultation with the Dutch Contact Committee.

14. XXI Session of the International Geological Congress
Resolved - that it be a recommendation to the Council of the Royal Society that a grant of £500 be made from the Scientific Congress Grant-in-Aid towards the travel expenses of geologists from the United Kingdom attending the XXI Session of the International Geological Congress to be held in Copenhagen from 15 to 25 August 1960, the grant to be allocated by the British National Committee for Geology.

It was agreed that the date of the next meeting of the British National Committee for Geology should be left to the decision of the Chairman.
